Ariise is a conlang, a made up language and script, made by Ari Birnbaum. This is his commentary:
Amidst the pandemic, I had an obsession with learning and writing different alphabetical systems used in different languages today. This included Russian, Greek, Korean, Japanese, Thai, and Hebrew. I was inspired and in 2020 I decided to create my own language with it’s own alphabet: Ariise. It started with only the writing system and has developed over time to be shared on this website.
Ariise utilizes an Abugida writing system which translates to a system that has separate consonant and vowel symbols which are written together as units.
Inspiration
When I was learning various alphabets, I was particularly inspired by the vowel usage of Thai and Hebrew, as well as the simplicity of Latin and Greek alphabets. Therefore the way vowels are written follow that of an Abugida structure like Thai and Hebrew (if the vowels are written and not implied). If one looks closely, some of the consonants of Ariise resemble some Latin and/or Greek characters but differ by a little.
The language itself has no apparent roots from any specific language, however in some vocabulary I purposely made it sound similar to some english or Spanish words for easier understanding when I first started creating Ariise.
